If you plan to bring these items, please let us know by adding a comment in the notes field when booking online or by giving us a quick call or text so that we can ensure there is adequate time for setup before and after your event. We would love to help you celebrate!
What should I wear to my appointment?
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing made of natural (non-synthetic) fabrics such as cotton and closed toe shoes. The most important thing is to be comfortable.
Where should I park?
Blown Studios is located on the corner of 2301 Atlantic Avenue in the white two-story brick building with the red door. If you are driving, please take advantage of the ample free street parking. The parking lot in the back is reserved for tenants of the building.
How do the workshops work? How long does the process take?
Upon arriving at Blown Studios, you will be asked to sign a safety waiver. Please note if you arrive early, there may be other classes ahead of you and appointments will begin at your scheduled booking time. You are welcome to peruse the gallery while you wait!
Once you complete your waiver, you (and your group if that applies) will be paired with a highly trained glassblowing instructor who will guide you through making your own piece of glass art! Before you begin the workshop, your instructor will provide an overview of the workshop process, safety protocol and the equipment and tools you will use. This usually takes about 10 minutes.
The instructor will take your name, confirm the workshop item you’d like to make, and then it’s time to choose your color(s)! We have a wide variety of colors to choose from. Then the real fun begins! You are ready to blow glass!
The instructor will work with one person at a time, guiding you individually through the process as you create your own piece of glass art. If you are with a friend or group, they will be able to watch and take photos, videos and socialize while each person creates their piece. It is truly captivating to watch! Glass moves fast! Most workshop items take between 15-20 minutes per person to make. Cups take a bit longer, around 20 – 30 minutes per person.
Timing varies a bit depending on the item you choose to make, but with the introduction and estimated 15-20 minutes per person, a group of 4 would take approximately 1 hour.
Important: Please note that glass must cool overnight to avoid cracking and breaking. Your item(s) will be available for pick up at the studio the following day. Shipping is available for an additional fee.
How do I pay?
All payment will be processed after your workshops. We accept cash and all major credit cards. We do not allow pre-payment for workshops. If you are looking to purchase a workshop for someone, gift cards are available for purchase.
